Whilst the lithographic printing process does have the benefits of being of high quality, consistent and reliable; flexography can easily match if not deliver more than lithography but with a significant cost reduction for the customer.
A thin ink is distributed onto the flexographic rubber cylinder plate via a series of rollers from the ink duct.
The ink is then rolled onto the surface of the rubber cylinder plate.
Only the raised sections of the rubber cylinder plate come in contact with the ink (known as the image area).
The rubber plate then transfers the image onto the chosen material.
The process is then repeated for each colour individually.
